Important Information on the Partial Resumption of DriveTest Services November 12, 2009

Due to the ongoing labour disruption, DriveTest will only be providing very limited services at seven of the DriveTest Centres listed below.

DriveTest will only be serving customers who need their licences for employment or if they have registered for driver training. Customers should be prepared to substantiate that they need their license for employment or training purposes. For those customers, the only services provided will be:

• Written tests for all classes of licence,
• Road tests for commercial classified licences, and
• Out-of-Province and Out-of-Country licence exchanges

For identification purposes, all applicants are required to produce government issued identification bearing proof of your legal name, date of birth and signature. All identification must be original and valid and, copies are not acceptable.

Road tests will not be provided at this time for any non-commercial licenses such as the G2 or G road tests. Road Test appointments currently booked in this system will not be honored until the strike is over and services have fully resumed. If you have a road test booked, it will be cancelled automatically without penalty. After that, you may rebook for a future date in anticipation of an end to the strike.

Any customer who holds a licence that expired on or after August 24, 2009 will continue to be covered under the automatic licence extension put in place by the MTO. Therefore, these customers do not need to come to a DriveTest Centre at this time. Click here for more information on the licence extension.

Hours of operations are from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday to Friday only. Thunder Bay and North Bay DTC closes at noon on Fridays.

Other Important Information:
• We will be processing Driving Instructor applications (but not road tests) from these DriveTest Centres.
• We will not be answering calls at the DriveTest Centres.
• Interpretation services will not be available until further notice
• You may still book a road test into the future.
• Travelers outside Ontario with an expired license may download an official letter from the Ministry regarding the extension of licence validity.
• To schedule a commercial classified road test, please fax your name, driver licence number and contact information to 613-482-4546. If you are a commercial school or company requiring classified road tests, please fax the name of the school or company and contact information. DriveTest will not be responding to faxes that are not related to commercial classified road test bookings or do not provide a valid driver’s licence. Any Driving School faxing in a request needs to provide the DL number number of a Driving Instructor.

If you have completed the written tests and have filed your application for criminal record check, please fax your name, driver’s licence number, affiliated Driving School (if applicable) and contact information to 613-482-4546.
• Any Driving School faxing in a request needs to provide the DL number of a Driving Instructor.

A cause du dérangement continu chez notre force ouvrière, Test au Volant ne pourra offrir que des services limités à sept de nos Centres d’évaluation.

Test au volant n’offrira ses services qu’à ceux qui sont des conducteurs professionnels ou qui sont inscrits dans un programme d’instruction pour conducteurs. Les clients doivent tous pouvoir supporter, avec preuve, le fait qu’ils exigent leur permis soit pour leur emploi ou pour les exigences d’un rôle comme instructeur. Pour ces clients, Test au Volant offrira les services suivants.

• Les tests écrits pour toutes les classes de permis
• Les examens routiers pour les permis commerciaux classifiés seulement et
• L’échange des permis émis hors province et hors pays

Pour établir leur identité, tous les clients doivent présenter un document d’identification émis par le gouvernement portant les preuves de : leur nom légal, leur date de naissance et leur signature. Toute preuve d’identité doit être originale et valide; les photocopies ou les reproductions ne sont pas acceptables.

Les examens routiers non commerciaux tels que le G2 et le G ne seront pas offerts maintenant. Les rendez vous pour examens routiers qui sont présentement réservés seront annulés d’ici la fin de la présente grève où nos services seront entièrement rétablis. Si vous avez réservé un examen routier, il sera automatiquement annulé sans pénalité.

Tout client qui détient un permis qui a expire sur ou après le 24 août 2009 jouit d’une extension automatique mise en place par le Ministère des Transports. Ces conducteurs n’ont pas à se présenter à un Centre Test au Volant présentement.

• Nous allons traiter les demandes de permis provenant d’instructeurs de conduite (mais pas les examens routiers) dans ce centres Test au Volant.
• Nous ne répondrons pas aux appels téléphoniques dans ces centres

D’autres renseignements :
• Les services d’interprétation ne seront pas disponibles jusqu'à prochain avis
• Vous pouvez encore choisir de réserver un examen routier dans le futur.
• Les voyageurs avec un permis expire qui quittent la province peuvent générer une lettre officielle du ministère concernant la prolongation de la validité de leur permis
• Pour réserver un examen routier commercial classifié, envoyez nous un fac-simile contenant votre nom, le numéro de votre permis de conduire et votre adresse complète à 613-482-4546. Si vous êtes une école commerciale ou une compagnie qui exige les examens routiers classifiés, veuillez nous envoyer par fac-simile le nom de l’école ou de la compagnie ainsi que tous les renseignements requis pour vous contacter. Test au Volant ne répondra pas aux fac-similes qui n’ont pas rapport à la réservation d’examens routiers commerciaux et classifiés ou qui ne fournissent pas un permis de conduire valide.

• Tout école de conduite ou auto-école qui envoie une demande par fac-simile doit fournir le numéro du permis de conduire d’un instructeur de conduite.
• Les remboursements – pour demander un remboursement, utilisez le lien électronique suivant et suivez les instructions.

NOTEZ QUE LES CLIENTS PREMIERS ARRIVÉS SERONT PREMIERS SERVIS. A CAUSE DU NOMBRE LIMITÉ DES EMPLOYÉS DISPONIBLES, LES CLIENTS DEVRONT S’ATTENDRE À DE LONGUES PÉRIODES D’ATTENTE. IL SE PEUT MÊME QUE CERTAINS CLIENTS VONT ATTENDRE ET NE PAS RECEVOIR DE SERVICE. LES EXAMENS ROUTIERS COMMERCIAUX CLASSIFIÉS DOIVENT ÊTRE RÉSERVÉS D’AVANCE COMME D’APRÈS LES INSTRUCTIONS CI DESSUS.
